Mosaics Gallery and Information

I've studied various aspects of mosaic art from schools in Italy. Anything is possible for your project from simple geometric borders to complicated portraiture.  Because of the binders used, the mosaic work can last for hundreds of years, even outdoors or under water!
Project cost is calculated based on the rarity of materials used, complexity of form, and overall size of the work.  Keep in mind that custom commissions will have a lead time corresponding to the project complexity.

'Scarlett Lipped Irene (after Bouguereau)'
- Marble, stone, and smalti 2011

In keeping with old traditions, the work is performed in natural stones and glass smalti only.  Work can be done on site, but I prefer to make panels on reinforcing mesh like this so installations go quickly.

'Seashell'
- Marble and stone 2010

Here is an example of my custom work in a shower area.  It was particularly rewarding to match the porcelain tile of the shower with natural stones used in the center panel for the image.  I have a large color palette of stone and glass available, ranging from common to precious materials.

You might have noticed that the first work above is rough 'split face' material, and the second is relatively flat and smooth. I can work in either style, but typically the rough hewn faces are more interesting in places where light will catch the surface.
