Sign Gallery and Information

It is a bit sad that so many monuments made today have lettering that is cheaply sandblasted in, not chisel cut or v-incised. Over hundreds of years, the ancient Romans perfected the carved letter for maximum readability at a distance. Shadows are cast in a perfect way across a well formed v-incised letter to increase keep the contrast regardless of the time of day. Your signage says something about your business or home, and not just with the content or name. Let me help you to make a luxurious statement with a v-incised sign in a great natural stone.

Above is a sign that I carved for a swimming pool using semi-rare Turkish marble (white with purple brecciation). I've found that the best marbles for lettering have a small grain, which allows them to be chiseled like packed snow. With the right materials, carving a monumental sign is not as difficult or expensive as one would think.

For projects, I can suggest materials or can be provided with samples to verify whether the work is possible. My rate for a project depends on the number of letters, the material being worked, and the font and size. As a rough estimate, for small crystal marbles or slate with Roman font between 200 and 400 point, the cost is about $25 to $30 per letter. Price breaks occur with a large number of letters, but it depends on the specifics of the project. The material is not included, but that allows the flexibility to hand select the sign's material. If preferred, I can quote stone prices locally available to reduce shipping costs.
